| Children are invited to join The Shrubbery Nursery from the age of three. The Nursery itself is a bright, cosy self-contained unit bordered by the school playing field and colourful garden. While the unit is self- contained, it is very much part of the school and children are able to move forwards into our Infant Department with confidence. The development of social skills through shared activities, imaginative play, role play and a range of physical activities is an essential feature of our Nursery life. Staff are trained in the use of the 'Topstart' physical education programme which promotes fine and gross motor skills and is great fun. The Nursery staff provide a purposeful atmosphere in which young children can develop essential skills such as language development, pencil control and letter and number recognition. We have an excellent staff-pupil ratio and each child is treated as an individual. Children are encouraged to discover for themselves, to question and to try out new experiences. | |
